CRASH OFF FIJI
U.S. MITCHELL PLANE
THREE SERVICEMEN DEAD (9 a.m.) SUVA, Feb. 14. Three lives were lost when a United States Mitchell bomber crashed into the sea near Vatia Point, Vitilevu, Fiji, on Tiiesday. The aircraft was on its way to Fiji from Noumea, New Caledonia, and the three men killed were all United States service personnel. The wrecked and submerged plane was found yesterday. One body, that of Lieutenant-Colonel Hillis. was recovered and brought to Suva for burial at the American military cemetery. The other bodies have not yet been recovered or identified. The American authorities in Suva state that no further information is available.
