SECOND SERIES
TRIAL FOURS ROWING The first race of the series for the second trial fours of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club wa3 held last evening and won by the crew stroked by J. Barrett. The distance was vowed in good time. By getting away to the better start Barrett’s crew took the lead, which they held throughout, coming home a length clear. The winning team wad' Barrett (stroke), F. Green, G. Lockwood and J. Fitzmaurice. their unsuccessful rivals being J. Prince (stroke), B. Slonn, W. Phillips and A. Sexton. The Poverty Bay club is to he represented in the New Zealand championship regatta to he held at Wanganui on Saturday, February 23. A crew, W. McLeod, K. Patty, 1). Menzies, and J. Barrett, has been entered for the’ maiden and junior fours. McLeod also will be competing in the New Zealand championship singles.
