CYCLONIC GALE
TOWNSVILLE DAMAGE ONE PLACE ISOLATED (9 a.m.) BRISBANE, Feb. 12. A cyclonic /gale accompanied by heavy rain devastated the Townsville district, causing damage estimated at £50,000. The township of Ayr is isolated by road and rail, with foodstocks sufficient for two days only. The weir containing Townsville’s water supply has burst. Fifty inches of rain fell in the Reid River area.
