SUN’S “NOISE” WAVES
AUSTRALIANS’ CLAIM (10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 30,
Australian radio physicists claim to be the first in the world to establish radar contact with the sun. One stated yesterday that return signals of a special hind had been received by Australian scientists working in Sydney. These signals were not normal echoes that one heard when radar contact was made with the moon, but “noise” waves generated on the surface or in the interior of the sun. The announcement that United States scientists had established contact with the moon was made on Thursday from Washington.
