LABOUR SHORTAGE
NURSES AND DOMESTICS
Great difficulty is being experienced bv the Cook Hospital Board in obtaining domestic staff, and the matron, Miss J. I. Martin, reported to yesterday's meeting that the services ol seven more were required but were unobtainable.
“The position is more acute now than it was at any time during the war, Miss Martin stated.
There were 22 at present employed in the nurses’ home, which was lour short of the number needed, while the 23 in the main hospital meant that still three more were required there. The domestics generally had given excellent service, though there was an occasional exception, she stated. Several of the wards at the hospital are also short-staffed for nurses. Eight more nurses are needed.
