NEARLY 400 A DAY
BATHERS AT WAIKANAE CAMPING STILL POPULAR For the eight days ended on Monday, over 3000 bathers availed themselves of the facilities provided at the Waikanae Beach, the hot weather attracting many people to this popular resort. Early in the week advantage was taken of the good surf that was running and Tuesday proved to be one of the biggest days this summer for a weekday. No fewer than 583 persons paid for admission to the dressing sheds. This figure was eclipsed on Saturday, when the total reached 631. The average for the eight days was nearly 400 bathers a day.
This year has been easily a record for the number of. campers and yesterday, for the first time since early in the season, the number of camps fell below the 100 mark. The actual number was 95, compared with 112 at the beginning of the week.
