SAFE RECOVERED

MO SIGN OF MISSING £SOOO (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 18. With the assistance of the Navy, a safe stolen from premises occupied by Chinese in Grey’s avenue has been recovered, but there is no sign of the £SOOO which it contained. Operating from Mangere bridge, on Manukau Harbour, naval divers under Mr. J. C. Moxford. who carried out the actual diving; recovered the safe from 38ft of water. Three men alleged to have been concerned in the burglary were at present in custody, the services of the Air Force having beer, enlisted to transport two detectives to Gisborne earlier in the week when the police got on the track of one of the trio.
