FORCES OVERSEAS
ADVICE TO RELATIVES
DESPATCH OF MAIL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 18. “Within the next two or three weeks all the 2nd N.Z.E.F. personnel, with the exception of those detailed for the occupation force for Japan and a few who will be remaining as a final rear party, will have embarked for New Zealand,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr. F. Jones, last night. “In the circumstances relatives and friends in New Zealand should discontinue the forwarding of correspondence to personnel overseas with the exception of those detailed for the occupation force for Japan or those that have advised their correspondents that they are remaining with the final rear party.” The Minister added that correspondence tor the occupation force will continue to be forwarded to the Middle East until such time as the force leaves tor Japan, when alternative arrangements will be given for onward despatch by the quickest possible means. This applies to both ‘ air and surface means.
Correspondents are reminded that the address for personnel of the occupation force is N.Z.A.P.O. 222.
