OPPORTUNE RAIN
RELIEVED SHORTAGE
Rain which fell opportunely on Saturday relieved the Gisborne Borough Council of the necessity of having to resume pumping, and the position of the town supply is that there is sufficient water bv gravitation now to keep the town going for a little longer.
‘The rainfall in the country districts was heavier than in the town and ,3in were registered at Waingake on Saturday,” the borough engineer, Mr. G. F. Clapcott, stated yesterday. “It wa s fortunate we had this fall otherwise we would be pumping now,” he added, in urging that the public continue to observe absolute economy in the use of water.
