CRIMINALS ON RUN
SCARED FROM LONDON
YARD SPREADS NET (Special Correspondent.) (10 a.m.) LONDON. Dec. 17. Criminals who have been frightened from London in the last few days may be caught in new nets as a result of secret plans put into operation covering the whole country, says the Daily Telegraph. Scotland Yard's swift action last week is believed to have sent numbers running to cover.
The Daily Mail says that gang crimes continued over the week-end. Three hooded men raided a Southend home, floored the owner with a truncheon but escaped hastily with only £0 worth of jewellery when the telephone rang. The manager of the Tiverton Cinema in Devon found two men, one armed with a revolver, holding up the cashier at the pay desk. The manager dived and caught one by the legs ut the man kicked himself free. Both escaped with a bag of silver containing £2O.
