DIAMOND WEDDING CELEBRATIONS The diamond anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. W. Findlay was celebrated by a family reunion, to which a few intimate friends were invited, held at the home of their daughter, Mrs. 15. H. Dodge, Gladstone road, 011 Friday afternoon. _ Shaded Iceland poppies and violets provided an artistic decorative scheme. Many congratulatory messages were received by Mr. and Mrs. Findlay, and the latter also was the recipient of gifts of flowers.

A delicious afternoon, tea was served, the handsome wedding cake bearing the initials of the bride and bridegroom of 60 years ago, together with the date of the wedding, forming an effective centrepiece on the charmingly arranged table. The health of the celebrants was proposed by Mr. W. •Jennings, formerly of Gisborne and now of Palmerston North. The hostess was wearing a smart frock of black velvet accented with a shoulder spray of double white gypsophia. A graceful frock of black silk clotpie was worn by Mrs. Findlay. Her shoulder spray was of mixed flowers in pastel tonings.

W.D.F.U. MEETS A large amount of correspondence was included in the business dealt with at the monthly meeting of the Gisborne branch ol the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, held on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Randall Sherratt occupied the chair. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs. K. A. Ensor in her recent bereavement. A .welcome was extended to three new members, Mesdames B. Jones, A. Richards and C. W. Tomlinson. The highlight of the meeting was an interesting talk on the work and constitution of U.N.R.R.A. given by Mr. Burton, one of the New Zealand delegates to the conference, in Australia and to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded.

The duties of group leader were carried out by Mrs. R. W. Coop, assisted by Mesilaitier, H. M. White, A. M. White, W. Clark. F. E. Humphreys, A. Broadhurst, E. K. Richardson, C. B. Burland, M. The chair was taken by the convener, Mrs. V. Clement, at the monthly meeting of the literary circle of the Gisborne Women’s Club yesterday afternoon. A welcome was extended to Mrs. Grocott. a visitor from Wellington. The secretary, Mrs. M. Lawless, was asked to convey the sympathy of the members to Mrs. J. S. Vincent, who is in hospital.
