The Parliamentary Recess Committee on Local Government will commence its sittings at Parliament Buildings, Wellington, on February 20 and will sit here until March 1. after which UlO committee will divide into two parts, one to cover tlie North Island and the other the South Island and two centres in the North Island. All persons, local bodies, or other organisations proposing to give evidence will be given an opportunity to do so if they communicate with the secretary to the committee at Wellington, who will arrange where the evidence is to be heard.

The North Island portion of the committee will consist of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, Messrs. H. J. D. Acland. W. .T. Broadfoot R. Coulter, R. McKeen. W. J. Poison," C. M. Williams and W. T. Andpr.ton, and they will sit in Te Kuiti on March 3, in Auckland from March 5 to 9, in Kaikohe on March 12, in Whangarei on March 13, in Hamilton on March 15 and 16, in Rotorua on March 19, in Gisborne on March 21, in Napier on March 23, and in Palmerston North on March 26.

The South Island committee will consist of the Minister, the Hon. W. E. Parry, Messrs. D. W. Coleman, W. H. Gillespie. J. N. Massey, C. R. Petrie, S W. Smith and T. H. McCombs.
