GUN DOG OWNERS

NEW GISBORNE CLUB inaugura\l Meeting Owners of gun-dogs in Gisborne attended in substantial numbers a meeting held on Thursday evening to promote the formation of a club in this district. In tddition to those present at the meetng, support was forthcoming from many sportsmen who were unable to attend, but who forwarded assurances >f their interest. Mr. C. A. Kerse was voted to the :hair, and briefly outlined the funcions of a gun-dog club and the conflict of field trials. Apart from prodding an interesting sporting event, te pointed out, these trials and the irepar'aliori for them were of the ireatest value in qualifying dogs for lie actual shooting season. In the -.eason. owners would have the pleaure of working over well-trained ogs, ready to command. After an enthusiastic discussion, it vas decided on the motion of Mr. R. ■Cirig. seconded by Mr. J. Dunlop, to orm a Gisborne Gun-Dog Club. The following office-bearers were elected: Patron. Mr. N. H. Bull: president, Mr. F. R, Ball; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Vlatthewson, P. Crawshaw, T. Smale, J. P. Baigent, and E. Wilkinson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. M. Seandrett; committee. Messrs. C. Nos:itcr, Bi Le Compte, M. Leigh, J. Dunlop, R. W. Ward, W. E. Ward, P. Pihoc, R. King, C. A. Kerse, and V. C. bavy, with power to add. It'was decided to make an endeavour to hold the first series of field rials during the Easter holidays, .vhen there is every prospect of nembers of the Hutt Valley club iringing dogs to Gisborne to coYnpete. ’n the interim, it was decided, several '■radices over a course to be arangod by the committee will .be told.
