WOOL FOR INDIA
AUSTRALIAN SUPPLIES (9 a.m.) PERTH, Feb. 8. The aim of the Indian trade mission which will soon visit Australia is to improve India's living standard. Mr. Michael Brown, assistant editor of the Times of India, who is adviser to the mission, said this on arrival in Perth from Ceylon by air. In the wool line India was capable of equalling the whole of Australia’s previous trade with Japan. He said large areas of India had a cold season during which the wearing of woollens was almost imperative. In 1943-44 India bought £4,000,000 worth of wool, most of it from Australia.
