Lord Rei.tb, who when directorgeneral of the British Broadcasting Corporation took a rigid stand against commercial broadcasting, told listeners at the annual dinner of the Australian Federation of Commercial Broadcasting Stations that he had “no ...objection to commercial broadcasting providing there is recognition of . the moral responsibility of influencing, intellectually and ethically, if;: millions of listeners.” Lord Reith added that it was the first time he had publicly expressed this view.
