REAL-LIFE THRILLER

BLAZING PLANE’S CREW FIVE-FOLD "DEATH RISK (10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 8. Nine men in a Flying Fortress escaped death which threatened them in five ways yesterday. The Fortress was flying over a Suffolk village when there was a heavy explosion in the plane. The plane caught fire. As the crew parachuted from the blazing wreck, the plane’s bombs fell between them. Bullets from the plane's gunbelts sprayed among them. They descended directly towards a railway line as a fast train was approaching. All survived; The bombs dropped in open fields alongside a road crowded with traffic. The only casualty was a horse.
