CAMPAIGN IN ITALY OIL PLANTS POUNDED (10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 8. The Italy communique says a number of strong enemy patrols were driven back in the Serchio Valley. Patrols of both sides wore active elsewhere on the Fifth Army and the Eighth Army fronts. The Mediterranean air communique says: “Continuing the campaign against enemy oil reserves, strong forces of escorted heavy bombers on February 7 successfully concentrated on oil storage plants and refineries in Vienna and also bombed oi! storage plants in northern Italy. Fighters and fighter-bombers bombed and strafed enemy communications and ammunition dumps in the Po Valley. Medium bombers continued the attack against the Brenner ra:.* route, vvitli excellent results. Thirtyfour of our planes are missing.”
