IMPORTS BY N.Z. MUTUAL-AID PROJECT MR. SULLIVAN’S COMMENT 10 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 5. A considerable quantity of wheat is to be imported into New Zealand from Canada. An arrangement which Mr. D. G. Sullivan, New Zealand Minister of Supply and Munitions, made with Mr. C. D. Howe. Canadian Minister of Supply, has been confirmed by the Canadian Mutual Aid Board, subject to tiie authorisation of tiie Combined Food Board. Mr. Sullivan, who received the confirmation in London, commenting on Ihe agreement, said: “I am exceedingly grateful to the Canadian Government. and particularly to Mr. Howe, for the most helpful attitude towards New Zealand. I hasten to add that it will still be necessary for New Zealand to procure local wheat Io the greatest extent attainable, to avoid a shortage. I hope Hie Canterbury farmers will wholeheartedly respond to the call made upon them.”
