U.S. OPPOSES CHANGES REPORTED BRITISH MOVE (10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 The New York Times correspondent in Washington learns that the War Department opposed the reported British proposal to give Field Marshal Montgomery ,or another British commander a larger share of responsibility under General Eisenhower a; a result of the German, counter-offen-sive. A.high official source said that responsible American officials did not see the necessity for it and added that no such proposal has been made officially. »
