The beef market showed an easing tendency for the iirst sale of the year. and passings were irvipioni. There was a fair yarding of 20(1 10-ad. but there was not the iinish usually associated with these sales. (iiiod summer-weight ox sold uj> to X 1 0 IGs, while unfinished sold to A* 12 IGs. Hereford heifers from Opapa to]>i»<*<i the sale at .I*l2 Gs, while good summer-weight sold up to VII I Is. Cows sold up to AS) 18s. Venters made from AG 15s to AS 7s. Ex-dairy cows sold from A2 1 Is to AO IGs. Eor the first time for over 12 mon:hs there were no store eat lie offered. The fat sheep market tinned on late rates for anything showing quality, despite ll:« inek oi interest taken by butchers in a .i.• irt yarding. Extra prime shorn wethers sold from 22s 7d to 24s 7d, prime 29s lOd M, ;;is .lud, jdaiu 24s lOd to 26s 4d; twotooth. prime, 24s lUd to 25s Id, and plain 2I s 7d. Two-tooth black-faces met with a Keen demand to sell from 22s 10(1 to 25s -id. Ewes, heavy, made from J9s Id to 21s Id. and plain down to 15s. Maiden ewes sold from 22s lOd to 24s Id. 'l’liere was a good offering of lambs, the tops selling from 26s J d to 29s I<l, and others from 20s to 25s Id.
