KING COUNTRY DISCOVERY INQUEST - "OPENED An inquest was opened at Te Kuiti before Mr. A. Dobson, coroner, into the death of a newly-born male child whose body was found beside the railway line near Puketutu, King Country, on Sunday. Evidence was given as to the finding of the body by a railway surfaceman, Alexander Roy Buchan, or ( Puketutu. Witness said that not far from the body he found articles of clothing. Dr. C. W. Isaac said that the body was that of a fully-developed child, which appeared to have been perfectly healthy. Death had probably occurred several days before the body was found. Police inquiries indicate that the child was probably born on a northbound train a week ago.
