MANY DESERTIONS LONDON, Dec. 4. The correspondent of The Times Isays Italian Fascist troops, a few selected battalions of whom the Germans a month ago put into the line, have been deserting at the rate of 30 pfer day. On one occasion 108 arrived in the Allied lines in seven hours. It is likely that large numbers of Italians have deserted to the Italian patriots in north Italy, w r hile others simply put on civilian clothes hnd returned home. It is known that the Germans trained and equipped four divisions of Italians but have never trusted more than four or five battalions in the line in Italy,
