CHINDWIN FRONT
AFRICANS GAIN A MILE (11 a.m.) KANDY, Dec. 5. A South-east Asia communique states that the East African troops on the Chindwin front, alter successfully crossing the Chindwin River from Kalewa, have advanced to a depth of approximately one mile against opposition. In nortnern Burma the Chinese troops have consolidated their gains in the vicinity of Bhamo airneid. There is strong patrol action in the other sectors.
