ROBBED WHILE ASLEEP
AIRMAN LOSES £IOO (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. G. An airman was robbed of £IOO while he was asleep in a dormitory at the Y.M.C.A. hostel in Wellesley street on Sunday night. The serviceman. Leading Aircraft - man J. Leigh, who had just returned from overseas, placed his wallet, containing £IOO in mixed currency, under his mattress when he went to bed on Sunday night in a dormitory in which about 60 other servicemen were sleeping. When he got up in the morning the wallet was gone. The theft was committed with such care that the victim was not disturbed in liis sleep.
The serviceman, who was making a brief stay in Auckland before leaving for his home in the South Island, was left penniless.
