The good recovery made by Dr. A. L singer from his recent serious illness was the subject of congratulatory reference at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council by Mr. M. .1. White. On his motion, the council conveyed to Dr. Singer felicitations on his recovery, and me hope that he would soon resume his place at the council table. After eight years in the post m inspector of factories at Gisborne, ana executive officer of the Labour Dopartment in the district, Mr. G. MclCcssar has been transferred to Timaru. and will leave tor the Somn Island with Mrs. McKossar to-morrow. Mrs. McKessar’s health has been poor of late, and on medical advice they arereturning to the centre from whltm they came to Gisborne several years ago. He joined the police'force in 1905, and reached the rank of sergeant iri 1917. being sent from Dunedin to Hamilton, and then, to Auckland, where he was senior-sergeant. Later he had charge of the Wellington training depot for •three years, before being made a subinspector and proceeding to- Christchurch. He was promoted inspector on his appointment to ..Gisborne, and became a superintendent three months ago. . -
