GIRL STRANGLED

FATHER FINDS BODY YOUTH CHARGED SYDNEY, Oct. 23. The body of Doris Winifred Shorney aged 20, of Lithgow, was found lying in long grass in the public park at 5.30 a.m. on Sunday by her father. She had been strangled. Later a youth Was attested and charged with murder. , The .girl’s father, Mr. F. Shorney, said that his daughter went to the pictures with a girl friend on Saturday night. He had been told that she left the. theatre ’at the interval but had returned. The park where,her body was found is close to her home, and it is believed that, she may. have walked through the park on her way home from the pictures. Later,the assistant chief of the- C. 1.8.. Detective-Inspector James, and the Gbvernpient _ medical _ officer, Dr. Percy, also went to Lithgow. The youth was arrested late in the afternoon, when a bus returning with a tourist party, from Jenolan Caves whs stopped,some miles from Litngow. An autopsy was earned out by Db. Percy and the local Government medical officer, Dr, P. McArthur. Loraine and Bess Ellwcod, of Lithghw, said that they had been workmates of Miss Shorney at the Lithgow Small Army. Factory.
