REBUILDING of LONDON MEN’S COUNTER-DEMAND LONDON. Sept. 27 Ah ultimatum to building trade workers—“ You must come and iecuild London. It is a military operation. The health of London m the coming whiter rests in your hands, was delivered .by the Ministei oi Ldbour, Mr. Ernest Bovin, when hi visited York on Tuesday. The building workers issued a countei- ultimatum. “We will come if you will treat the job as a military operation and pledge us accommodation. Houses must.be requisitioned lor us. There are scores of big ones in London’s fashionable squares and outer suburbs. Get them for us, provide transport to and from work and we will come,” they said. Mr. Bevin told the building women that He sometimes thought Londoners v/ere misunderstood because the> had borne the war strain so well Londoners had to be given warmth and shelter or they would be endangered by influenza and other epidemics. . .
