(11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 14. “Alter the occupation of Maungdaw, in Biirtria, our forward elements occupied .two villages, one and four miles respectively south-east of Maungdaw,” 'states a communique issued by the Allied South-East Asia Command. “The' advance continues slowly. The Japanese are counter-attacking and holding tenaciously to strong-points ■along the western foothills of the "Mayu range. We advanced our positions, 'slightly on the east side of the Mayu range.”
