SURPRISE ATTACK
ENEMY SHIP SUNK (British Official Wireless. 1 (9 a.m.) RUGBY. July 18. An Admiralty communique ■ states: "Light coastal forces intercepted a small escorted enemy convoy off the Dutch coast in the early hours ol Saturday morning. A surprise attack was pressed home to close range. One enemy ship in the convoy was probably sunk and two others damaged. Neither casualties nor damage were sustained by the British ships.”
