GOAT “ARRESTED”

SYDNEY. July 10. A goat the Manly police have had in custody was released on a “good behaviour” bond yesterday. For some days recently the animal was Manly’s greatest public nuisance. It wandered about the streets, climbed into buses, went into shops, and stole food. Finally an annoyed shop-owner whose stock had suffered took the marauder in hand and dragged it o IT to the police station. The goat presented a new problem to the police. They solved it by tying it up in the police yard. There it remained until its owner claimed it yesterday. He undertook to see to it that the animal stayed in his own backyard in future.
Manly police believe they made history by taking a goat into custody for the first time in New South Wales,
