STREET DAYS SANCTIONED

Six applications for street activities by local organisations carhe before the Gisborne Horouglv Council -hist night. Apart from the request- by the R.S.A. to hold the usual sale ‘of poppies on April 16 arid a Y.M.C.A. application .for a street day in October, they were all in connection with queen carnival activities. The Army Queen committee asked for a street day on March 26 arid the -Navy Queen C.Omrnitte'e for ' April '22. The Air .'Force' merely asked to be permitted to ■hold'a‘street day; preferably'bn a Friday, Without mentidrilng a date, and also sought permission tb erect a structure in Peel street for the pur* pose of .raising funds. ' ■ It was stated that the Air Force Queen committee’s structure had been erected already without the necessary permission from the council .‘arid the Setter from the committee exp'i'esSed regret at the oversight. The explanation contained in the letter was accepted and permission was granted the air force - to hold a street day oh April. -2,. -All other requests were also granted. . "Mr. F.
