TAXATION PAYMENTS
A decrease in totalisator turnover from £8,769,917 for the racing year ended July, 1941, to £7,224,203 for the following yea)-, is shown in the latest Abstract of Statistics, the drop being slightly over 22 per cent. The amounts paid in dividends during tun same periods were £7,241.907 and £5,967,255. Government taxes on investments, dividends and stakes were £828.411 in 1941 and declined to £682,146 in 1942. Unpaid fractions retained by clubs amounted to £47,366 and £37,291 respectively, while refunds of taxation granted to clubs, including refunds on investments for previous periods, were £45,906 in 1941 and £39,981 last racing year.
