100 MEN FOR CAMP

TO-DAY’S DEPARTURES

One of the largest crowds of people since the departure of some of the earliest drafts were present this morning to witness the departure of nearly 100 men from Gisborne for military camp. Several hundred people congregated at the point of departure. Many in the draft were married men of the 37 to. 40-year-old group, and included also some of the younger men.

The Gisborne Home Guard Brass Band led the draft from the Army Office to their conveyances, this being the first occasion for some time that a band has paraded for this purpise, and the sidewalks were crowded as the men marched through the streets.
