INCREASE IN CLAIMS
SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDS EX-MEMBERS OF FORCES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. An increase in the work of the war claims section of the Social Security Department was indicated by an officer of the department when supporting a number of departmental appeals -against military service. He revealed that in 1939 the number of claims totalled 912, and in 1941 they had increased to 5700. When a soldier is discharged from the army, he explained, he becomes our responsibility both in connection with pensions and treatment.
