MISSING £IOOO BOND

DEDICATION OF ROADS OLD TOWN BOARD TIME SEARCH BEING MADE A search is being made for a bond entered into for £IOOO between the old Manga-papa Town Board and Messrs. M. B. Marider and J. Blair, the owners of a property which it was proposed to sub-divide. Mention of this was made at last night's meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, when application was made by Messrs Grant and Cooke for approval of a sub-divisional plan of lots 1 to 4. Whataupoko No. 3 block. The Mayor, Mr. N. IT. Bull, stated that a bond of £IOOO was entered into by the owners, upon which the old Mnngapapa Town Board agreed to the dedication of the roads in the subdivision. The streets had been dedicated but not formed. The council was not under any liability to form the roads, but the bond was missing, and unless the council could trace the bond the council had no option but to accede to the request. The borough engineer. Mr. G. F. Clapeott, said that the subdivision had been taken over according to the Mangapapa Town Board’s by-laws. The accountant, Mr. D. G. Dyer, who was deputising at the meeting for the town clerk, Mr, W. M. Jenkins, said that a fairly extensive search had bfeen made, but It had not been possible to locate the bond yet. The council, in the meantime, approved of the plan of subdivision of the area, which was close .to Hapnra and Dalrymplc -roads, in Mnngapapa.
