COMFORTS FOR TROOPS FRIDAY NIGHT PARADE For the purpose of assisting _ the comfort coupon sales for patriotic purposes, tlic East Coast Provincial Patriotic Council has arranged to hold a parade through Gisborne on Friday night., Permission for this was given by, the Gisborne Borough Council last night, when application to hold a street day and parade at night came forward in the form of a letter. Arrangements outlined for the evening comprised a parade of the Air Training' Corps, with the Caledonian Band in attendance, at 7.15 p.m. from thp Chief Post Office to the town clock and back to the Peel street crossing, Where there would be speeches to assist the campaign. During, the operations, members of the W.W.S.A. would canvass the bystanders for subscriptions. The letter also asked to have all moving traffic closed from the street between 7.10 p.m. and 7.50 p.m. If the latter request was granted, members of the traffic side of the E.P.S. would be useful in providing tbp necessary traffic control. The Mgyor. Mr. N. H. Bull, said that the Crippled Children's Society had been given permission to hold a street collection on the same day. but that activity would cease at 5 p.m. and the comfort coupons drive would not commence until the evening.
