RETURNED SOLDIERS
REHABILITATION CARE A statement that soldiers were returning sick and wounded and that as l'ar as he knew nothing was being done for them by way of rehabilitation was made at yesterday’s meeting of the Wairoa Harbour Board by Mr. J, M. Taylor. In reply, the Hon. P. J. O’Kane, M.L.C., said that on arrival all soldiers were met. all particulars and desires were noted and they were asked what they wanted to do. The committee in charge was a good one and 90 per cent of the, members were returned soldiers. If any man had a complaint it was due to his own carelessness.
A renabilitation committee is being formed in Gisborne to represent all sections of the community, but in the meantime if returning soldiers require assistance they may apply through the State Advances Department. Mr. R. J. Clark, secretary of the Gisborne Returned Services’ Association, stated to-day that as far as he knew there was no foundation to complaints regarding the treatment of soldiers returning imrne. after .service.,•
