Columbia Broadcasting System broadcast on the “production crisis,” poiiYting' Out to Americans the necessity of redoubling their efforts in war production and also launching a new 'Government programme of presenting awards for industrial plants, establishing outstanding production Mr. Elmer Davis read the following statement from President Roosevelt: “Although great progress has been made in the production battle, we have only just begun to get into our stride in terms of what is required for victory. Henceforth the army and navy flag flying over the plants will bear witness that the management and labour there are doing their utmost to aid the army and navy by production.” Amplifying the statement, Mr. Davis enumerated the most vitally needed materials, including “lumber for invasion barges.” Mr. Murray and Mr. Green jointly pledged 100 per cent support by the Congress of Industrial Organisations and the ,4n).s.cican..F.ed©ration of Labour. Admiral Nimitz, from “somewhere in the Pacific,” emphasised the most urgent need of ships, tanks and weapons for the Pacific.
