ARRESTS IN INDIA LABOUR AND COMMUNIST (O D m-) LONDON, Aug. 9. * The national council of the Independent Labour Party carried a resolution protesting *«u n st the arrests of the Congress Party teadeis, “whereby the British Government renounces before toe whole world any claiM to represent the principles of freedom and democracy.’ The resolution urges Labour Ministers to withdraw from che Government and demands an immediate meeting of. Parliament. . , The British Communist Party issued a. .statement deploring, the Congress adoption of “a suicidal policy of civil disobedience.” but states that the British Government s clumsy and provocative measures reveal bankruptcy of leadership.
