annual meeting The annual meeting of the Gisborne Branch of the South African War Veterans’ Association was held on Saturday evening, Mr. Geo. Crawshaw being in the chair, there being a good attendance. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted after a short discussion. Appreciation of Mr. I. Lindon’s services as president over a long period was carried by acclamation. Appreciation was also expressed of Mr. D. McCallum’s services as official sick visitor. Advice was received from the Dominion secretary of the death after a short illness of Mr. G. N. Ci ess well, late Sixth Contingent, N Z M.R., of Chi'istchurch, one of the foundation members of the Dominion association, and a past president. A motion of sympathy was carried with members whose sons were reported killed in action, wounded, prisoners of war, or missing, all present standing in silence. The following officers were appoint-ed-president, Mr. G. Crawshaw; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. McCallum, and S. Breingan, and Dr. W. A. Bowie; hon. secretary, Mr. J. V. Scott; hon. treasurer. Mr. F. Parker; executive, Messrs. W. Graham, W. Taylor, A. Tyrrell, G. B. Carter, and S. McKenzie; sick visitor, Mr. D. McCallum; hon. quartermaster, Mr. H. Hughes: hon. auditor, Mr. D. F. Fararn; hon. piper, Mr. M. A. McDonald; hon. chaplain, Canon A. F. Hall.
