CANADIAN MEDALS

TOO FEW AVAILABLE GENERAL’S CRITICISM (9 a.m.) OTTAWA, July 14. Major-General Letson told the House of Commons committee on honours and decorations that the Canadian Army was in a different and unsatisfactory position compared with other British armies regarding decorations. One disadvantage is that no decoration is available for senior officers for outstanding service. It war also unsatisfactory that there was no decoration for junior ranks corresponding to the Air Force Cross and Air Force medal. General Letson expressed the opinion that decorations improved morale and pointed out that the Victoria Cx'oss is open to all ranks. He did not think it possible to lrjake all decorations open to all ranks.
