Death On Active Service
Private William Ashwood Friar. M.A., who recently died of wounds while on active service, was the eldest son of Mr. F. Friar, Ormond. He received his education at the Ormond-School, the Te Karaka District High School, and the Auckland Training College. Pte. Friar was notified that he had secured his M.A. degreeonly a few days before lie sailed' from New Zealand.’ He was a keen tennis player. He leaves one sister. Mrs. Willis. Porangahau, and two brothers, one of whom is overseas and the other in the R.N.Z.A.F.
