MALTA’S TOLL OF AXIS BRITISH LOSSES LIGHT (British Official Wireless.) (2.30 pin.) RUGBY. July 12. So far this month the enemy has paid a high'price for their persistent air attacks on Malta, says the Air Ministry news service. British fighters accounted for nearly eight planes a day, 29 being bombers. The Germans have tried night attacks, but night-fighters have done their share of the destruction. The British losses were 21 planes, little more than o'ne-qu'arfer of the enemy’s. Nine of the British pilots were saved. The latest message from the island says that the aerodrome, was attacked on Monday, but little damage was done. Two German bombers' were destroyed and one Italian, fighter.
