Alleged Attempt to Break ami Enter Charged with attempting on July 2 to break and enter the shop of Jack Edwin Stapp with’intent to commit a crime, three young men., Beniamin Sinclair Ritchie,’ aged 22; farm hand, Ronald Leslie Waitoa, aged 18, labourer, and Harry Alfred Durston, aged 19, labourer, appeared before Mr. M. Doyle, J.P., this morning and, on the application of Detective T. Sneddon were remanded to appear in the Gisborne Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. Unions’ National Secretary At a general meeting of the Ngakawau Miners’ Union, the following resolution was passed: "That, while agreeing to allow the national secretary, Ml. A. McLagah, leave of absence to join the War’Cabinet, we do not agree to the unconstitutional method that the national council wants unions to adopt regarding the different national positions. We are of opinion that the national secretary should resign his position for the'duration of the war. w Unless this-iprocedure is adopted this union does not intend to take nominations for national positions,"
