ARMY IN CONTROL
POSITION IN EGYPT (10 a.m.) LONDON, July 2. The Egyptian Government officially announced that the army, as from tonight, is replacing the police in guarding strategic points. The Rome radio, quoting a message from Ankara, reports that Egypt has been under martial law since June 30. The army has taken over the railways. The British issued a stay-put order to the population of Alexandria. Barricades are being erected on the Alexandria-Cairo highway.
