OFFICERS PROMOTED
N.Z.E.F. APPOINTMENTS .CHANGES ANNOUNCED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The following promotions and appointments of officers of the New Zealand military forces were gazetted last night:— Lieut.-Colonel (temp.) E. Elliott. New Zealand Artillery, is appointed to command an anti-aircraft regiment Promotions and appointments in thr Second N.Z.E.F. are:— New Zealand Armoured Corps.— Major (temp, lieutenant-colonel) R. L. McGaffin to be lieutenant-colonel; Major T. C. Wallace to be lieutenantcolonel (temp.). New Zealand Medical Corps.—Major K. B. Bridge to be lieutenant-colonel (temp.) while holding the appointment of administrative and liaison officer on a hospital ship. Commands and Staff.—Lieut.-Colonel J. N. Peart, Northern Infantry, relinquishes the command of a battalion and is appointed to command an advanced base: Lieut.-Colonel J. R. Gray, Northern Infantry, is appointed to command a battalion; Major H. Iff. D. Blake, New Zealand’ Artillery, is appointed to command the artillery training depot; Major G. J. O. Stewart, New Zealand Artillery, is appointed second-in-command of a field regiment. New Zealand Infantry.—Major J. M. A. Samson, Southern Infantry, to be s lieutenant-colonel (temp.);Major W-H. Alexander, Northern Infantry, to be a lieutenant-colonel (temp.). Commands and Staff.—Lieut.-Colope) C. A. L. Treadwell, Central Infantry relinquishes the appointment qf deputy J udge-Advocate-General; LieutenantColonel G. J. McNaught, Centra) Infantry, is appointed a general staff officer, first grade, at Headquarters, Maadi Camp; Major G. P. Sanders. Northern Infantry, is appointed second-in-command of a battalion; Major H. G. McQuade, Southern Infantry, is appointed second-in-rcommand of a battalion. ■ New Zealand Infantry.—Major C. NWatson, Northern Infantry, to be a lieutenant-colonel (temp.) while employed as senior infantry training depot commander; Captain I. Hart. Central Infantry, to be a major (temD.) while commanding an infantry training depot. Commands and Staff. —Lieut.-Colonel C. D. A. George, Central Infantry,' is appointed to command a battalion; Major L. B. Ballantyne, New Zealand Divisional Cavalry, is appointed second-in-command of the composite training depot; Major S. J. Hedge, Northern Infantry, is appointed to command an infantry training deppt. New Zealand Medical Corps.—-Lieut.-Colonel (temp, colonel) D. Pottinger to be colonel ; and the under-mentioned majors (temp, lieutenant-colonels) to be lieutenant-colonels, A. L. de B. Noakes. E. L. Button. L. J. Hunter, J. P. McQuilkin, F. P. Furkert and R.
