FREE FRENCH SOLDIERS ALEXANDRIA BATTLE MANY JOIN PATRIOTS (By Telegraph—Press Abbii. —Copyright.) (2.40 p.m.) LONODN, June 29. Free French foreign and colonial infantry, fresh from their great stand at Bir Akheim, clashed with Vichy sailors from ships idle in Alexandria harbour, says the Exchange Telegraph’s correspondent at Alexandria. The battle was of short duration, after which the sailors, many of whom were sorry sights, were confined to their ships until the Free French leave the town. Many sailors were impressed by .the fighting qualities of the Free French and decided to join them. The British United Press’ correspondent on the French frontier reports that French resistance against German occupation is growing.
