HYDRO-ELECTRIC SERVICE
An important step in the hydroelectric development of the South Island will be taken toward the end of this year when the high-tension system between Timaru and Hororata is changed over from 66,000 to 110,000 volts. This will enable the Waitaki station to carry a much greater proportion of the Christchurch load than it now does, and will provide a valuable safeguard against interruptions to Christchurch power in the event of any failure of the Lakej Coleridge supply. . ;
