APPEAL TO PETAIN
GIVE FREEDOM SIGNAL OPPRESSED PEOPLES (9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 18. General Mikhailovitch, leader of the Yugoslav guerrilla army, appealed to Marshal Petain to give the signal awaited by all depressed people in Europe from the people of France to raise the banner of freedom which the French people for so many centuries have waved at the head of the nations of Europe. General Mikhailovitch added: “If, however, you have abandoned forever the idea of a new victory for France over her enemies, let me then address this appeal to that still unknown marshal of France who will emerge from the darkness of the present day inspired by that great spirit of France.”
