Leading-Writer W. N. Waite, son of Mr. J. S. Waite, formerly of Gisborne, lias received promotion to the rank of Paymaster Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal New Zealand Navy, and has been transferred from H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel to H.M.N.Z.S. Leander. Among recent promotions in the Now Zealand Expeditionary Force notified in the New Zealand Gazette is that of Lieutenant J. M, D. McCredie, formerly of Gisborne, to the rank of captain. Captain McCreclie, a son of Mr. W. S. McCrcdie, Auckland, has been engaged in staff duties at the New Zealand base in the Middle East.
